The House of the Prince of Condé

Located in the centre of France, in the region of Auvergne and in the Departement of Allier, the Medieval village of Charroux is classified as one of The Most Beautiful Villages of France. It is a 25 minute drive West of Vichy and 50 minutes North of Clermont-Ferrand.

The bed and breakfast La Maison du Prince de Condé (XIII - XVIII centuries) is situated in the heart of the village. What was formerly part of the moat is now an enclosed garden with its lounge chairs and picnic areas, all at the disposition of our guests. Here you can relax and profit from the peacefulness and tranquility of the French countryside.

Breakfast - included in the price - is served either in the interior court yard or in the vaulted cellar of the 13th century.

WE DO NOT OFFER MEALS OTHER THAN BREAKFAST. There is however a good restaurant only 4 minutes on foot from our house. And just next door is the TEA ROOM «Le Petit Condé». It offers light meals : crêpes, quiches, salted pies, pastries, ice creams, refreshments. In the villages around Charroux you will also find a multitude of fine cafés and restaurants.

In Charroux as well there are artists and artisans, an excellent museum, festivals, fairs and other tourist attractions that give new life to the old cobble-stoned streets. Not far away : the family park Vulcania, castles (Allier is the second department of France for its concentration of castles), romanesque churches, hiking, fishing, canoë-kayak, horse-back riding, the thermal city of Vichy etc.
