Ski Daktari, winter & summer chalet holidays
The Fox Hat chalet nestles in the tiny hamlet of Les Tines on the outskirts of Chamonix, the skiing and climbing capital of Europe.
From this luxurious base there are many exciting activities available including skiing, mountain biking, climbing, trekking, paragliding, rafting, canyoning, tennis - the list is almost endless.
The chalet can be booked as a whole or by bedroom and can be catered or self catered. It boasts 5 bedrooms [3 doubles, 1 twin and 1 quad] and 4 bathrooms. There is a fully equipped kitchen, large living/dinning room a with fireplace, tv, video, dvd player and stereo. It also has a large wooden terrace with astonishing views up to the Aiguille de Midi and Mont Blanc. Immediately opposite is the Excelsior Hotel with bar, restaurant and swimming pool. At the end of the lane there is a bus stop and railway station, so geting around the valley on your own is not a problem.
Chamonix is overlooked by Mont Blanc, Europe's highest mountain and sits on the border with Switzerland and Italy. It is a cosmopolitan and vibrant Alpine town that is open all year round and has a large variety of restaurants, bars, cafes and shops - it really does have something for everyone.
The best method of getting to Chamonix is to fly to Geneva and get a bus, taxi or hire car up the valley - a distance of about 90 kilometeres.
Chamonix also provides some of the most outstanding skiing in Europe. Although renowned as a resort for experts with its abundance of off-piste and near vertical runs, Chamonix also has some excellent nursery slopes and plenty of wide blue cruisers. It's also a myth that the famous Vallee Blanche is for experts only. The 23 km long run - all on glacier, is suitable for intermediates who feel comfortable on reds and blacks.
