Bed & Breakfast
Sous l'Olivier is a charming 'stop off' with its lovely sunny patio overlooking the garden and private pool. In this peaceful setting breakfast is served with the Black Mountain as a backdrop.
The property was originally a wine-maker's house and it has a wealth of original features and exposed stone walls. Some of the most distinctive, decorative features of the house include pink marble which is famous and mined locally at Caunes-Minervois.
The house has 3 double bedrooms, two with double beds and 1 with 2 large single beds, all with en-suite shower rooms.
On the ground floor there's a lovely kitchen/dining room and a small sitting room. Upstairs is a further large, airy sitting room with a flat screen TV receiving both French and English channels.
There is a private car parking area and also a large garage for cycles and motorbikes.
The village centre is just a short walk away and you'll find a general grocery shop selling bread, a restaurant, a hairdressers, a post office, wine caves, tennis courts and a boulodrome. Close by is the bigger village of Caunes with a beautiful abbey, further shops including a butchers, a cafe-bar and a restaurant. Supermarket shopping can be done at Peyriac - 4 kms away.
The region offers a wealth of history, numerous outdoor activities including walking, cycling, cruising down the Canal du Midi and of course the wonderful wine. The medieval city of Carcassonne is not to be missed and only 25km away.
Underground exploration in the Cabrespine and Limousis caves, the rose marble quarries at Caunes, Minerve with its natural bridge, all is there waiting to be discovered.
If you want to spend a day messing about on the river then boats can be hired at Homps or Trebes.
