Les Amandiers Bed & Breakfast near Carcassonne Southern France
Welcome to our luxury villa with pool, 'Les Amandiers', offering quality bed & breakfast from mid June to mid September. It has its own guest entrance and a large, air-conditioned sitting/dining room, exclusively for guests, There is a small refrigerator here for guest use. Patio doors take you onto the south facing terrace and pool/garden, with panoramic views over the vineyards to the Pyrenees.
Breakfast can be served either in the guest dining room or on the terrace. Breakfast choice includes croissants, meats, cheeses, fresh fruit, yoghurt, choice of cereal, orange juice, tea or coffee etc.
The two spacious bedrooms, named after Cathar castles, are on the ground floor, are non-smoking and have quality en-suite shower, washbasin and toilet.
Beds can be arranged as either superking or twin, with Egyptian cotton bed linen and towels.
There are tea and coffee making facilities in each room, TV (English/French), tower fans and hairdryers. The rooms have individual locks.
Room 1 - Agulilar - €70 per room per night, breakfast included.
Double or twin en suite room with window overlooking vineyards to the legendary Pech de Bugarach.
Room 2 - Lastours - €75 per room per night, breakfast included.
Double or twin en suite room with wonderful views to the Pyrenees. Patio door leads onto the terrace.
We do not serve an evening meal at Les Amandiers but there are several restaurants nearby, including a super cafe/bistro in the village.

The Aude department is particularly famous for the Cathars and the two World Heritage sites of the Canal du Midi and the medieval fortress city of Carcassonne.
Our nearest town is the charming market town of Limoux (under 15 minutes), famous for its 'blanquette' wine, the oldest sparkling wine in the world.Visit the Sieur d’Arques winery in the town for a tour and, of course, a 'degustation'.
The medieval city of Carcassonne, the largest fortified city in Europe, is a must if coming to this area. Kate Mosse’s bestsellers 'Labyrinth' 'Sepulchre' and 'Citadel' have brought many more to discover the beauty of this city and the region.
During July and August there is the Carcassonne festival featuring international acts performing in the outdoor theatre in the cité.
The region is the largest producer of wine in France but emphasis has recently changed towards quality and 'bio' wines. We have 39 domaines locally in the Côtes de la Malepère AOC offering tours and tastings, and we are only a few minutes from the ‘Vinécole’ wine school at Domaine Gayda. We can arrange tours on your behalf, with transport included.
The Cathars were a religious group who emerged in Europe during the eleventh century. Catharism spread during the twelfth and thirteenth centuries. Crusades were launched against the Cathars with their genocide concluding in the late fourteenth century. There are many castles and sites within easy reach of our B&B.
Less than 30 minutes away you will find the site of Rennes-le-Château. You are in 'Da Vinci Code' Country - home of the best-seller ‘Holy Blood, Holy Grail’. Visit the place that holds Abbé Saunière's secrets and you are sure to find the history of this small village fascinating.
There are many opportunities for outdoor activities in the area.
Walking is a very popular pastime, with a wealth of guided walks in the immediate area, ranging in time and difficulty, including Grande Randonnées.
The area has many cycling routes, again ranging in difficulty (routes are marked). There are several trails around our village. You could take a leisurely bike ride along the Canal du Midi. We can securely garage your cycles.
If you enjoy horse-riding, there is a riding stable close by.
The area around and beyond Quillan is known for its excellent white water rafting and canoeing, with some stunning scenery through the gorges.
Relax at the nearby spa towns of Alet les Bains and Rennes-les-Bains with their naturally heated swimming pools and spa treatments.
