Our nearest town is the charming market town of Limoux (under 15 minutes), famous for its 'blanquette' wine, the oldest sparkling wine in the world.Visit the Sieur d’Arques winery in the town for a tour and, of course, a 'degustation'.

The medieval city of Carcassonne, the largest fortified city in Europe, is a must if coming to this area. Kate Mosse’s bestsellers 'Labyrinth' 'Sepulchre' and 'Citadel' have brought many more to discover the beauty of this city and the region.

During July and August there is the Carcassonne festival featuring international acts performing in the outdoor theatre in the cité.

The region is the largest producer of wine in France but emphasis has recently changed towards quality and 'bio' wines. We have 39 domaines locally in the Côtes de la Malepère AOC offering tours and tastings, and we are only a few minutes from the ‘Vinécole’ wine school at Domaine Gayda. We can arrange tours on your behalf, with transport included.

The Cathars were a religious group who emerged in Europe during the eleventh century. Catharism spread during the twelfth and thirteenth centuries. Crusades were launched against the Cathars with their genocide concluding in the late fourteenth century. There are many castles and sites within easy reach of our B&B.

Less than 30 minutes away you will find the site of Rennes-le-Château. You are in 'Da Vinci Code' Country - home of the best-seller ‘Holy Blood, Holy Grail’. Visit the place that holds Abbé Saunière's secrets and you are sure to find the history of this small village fascinating.

There are many opportunities for outdoor activities in the area.
Walking is a very popular pastime, with a wealth of guided walks in the immediate area, ranging in time and difficulty, including Grande Randonnées.

The area has many cycling routes, again ranging in difficulty (routes are marked). There are several trails around our village. You could take a leisurely bike ride along the Canal du Midi. We can securely garage your cycles.
