Bed & breakfast Monticelli, Casarano

There is plenty to see and do in Salento. Use the villa as a base to visit and explore the beautiful, historic city of Lecce called the ‘Florence of the south’. It is only a 40 minute drive away, and is noted for its rich 17th century architecture and ornate baroque buildings.

Wander round the ‘old’ town and visit the many churches, palazzos, numerous shops and watch the traditional papier màchè sculptures being made in the studios all over the town. About half an hour away is Santa Maria di Leuca, a seaside resort and fishing area found at the extreme tip of Puglia. It’s an important place of pilgrimage for visitors to the Chiesa di Santa Maria, a church visited by the Pope. An ideal place to take a boat ride out along the coast and swim and dive in the many grottoes.

The town of Otranto, about a 40 minute drive away, is located to the east of the region. Its main attraction is a visit to the Cathedral to see the famous 12th century mosaic, and the bones of the 800 martyrs. Wonder round the Aragonese castle and look out over the sea and the port and its many boats. Not far away are beaches of Gallipoli, stretching north and south of the town. This town is a mix of old and new and worth a visit during the day and night to soak up the friendly atmosphere.

So whether you want to just soak up the sun on one of the many sandy beaches, or visit one of the many historic churches, castles or landmarks the region has to offer (and we have only named a few above) or plan your visit around one of the many festivals that take place throughout the year, we can help you decide. So no matter how far you travel, the scenery and the beautiful landscape is always with you and wherever you go, you can always enjoy eating out at very good restaurants and bars and sample the wonderful local food and excellent wine.

Rates: 30 Euros per person per night July and August, 25 Euros per person per night from January to end of June and September to end of December

We have 2 clean and airy double rooms (one double room en-suite) with adjoining shower, toilet and bidet, and one twin room. Towels are provided and changed once a week. Rooms are serviced and cleaned daily and bed linen changed once a week. Fridge available. Hairdryer available. Private, secure parking is available but a car is a must as public transport services are limited. Transfers to and from Brindisi airport can be arranged (50 Euros each way). Vehicle hire is available on request. Internet access is available.

Breakfast is served on one of the terraces or in the dining room. Guests have their own separate access and can come and go as they please. The use of the sunroof is also available.
