There is a large sitting room / dining room with log burner and 42 ' TV with DVD and surround sound with all the usual UK channels. All bedrooms, hall and lounge have great views over the town of Cadaval to the mountains. Breakfast can be taken in the dining room or on the terrace.
Our 10 X 5 metre salt-water pool is currently at 28 / 30c and there are loungers, pool robes and pool towels provided.
The town of Cadaval and the village of Vermelha are within a kilometre both have restaurants, cafes, bars, post office, centre, pharmacy, banks, supermarket etc
The people are very friendly and many speak some English and French and it is a short drive to some of the best ocean beaches in Europe with all the usual sports.
History is everywhere around you and as members of the British Historical Society of Portugal we can guide you to historic British battle sites where the Portuguese and the British under the Duke of Wellington defeated the French in the first two battles of the Penninsular war in Portugal.
Portugal and England signed the longest lasting peace treaty in history in 1385 and as recently as the Falklands conflict the UK asked Portugal for use of the Azores and was given it's use for the duration of the conflict.
The weather is best described as warmer and drier than the UK but not as hot in the summer as the Algarve or Mediterranean Spain. It gets up to 35c in the summer but 28c / 30c is more usual and although the winter can be wet it is nothing like northern Europe. Last winter we BBQd on Christmas day and from the middle of February day wear was short sleeves although the evenings required a fire on.
Our web site has a description of all the local towns and of course there are wineries all around us and most are open to the public.
Eating out is very reasonable and the food is good although they do like pigs ears and snails!!
