The Two Leos Guest House
If you want to sample the real Portugal, this is the place to find it. The guest house has a salt water swimming pool, large orchard and gardens. At the top of the garden you will find a sheltered pergola. Here you will also see large carp swimming in the pond.
Nearby you will find Golden Eagle golf club this was the host to the 2009 Portuguese ladies open. (Some players relaxed here at Two Leos). Other courses close by are praia del rai, bom successo. There is also a go-karting circuit 10 minutes away. At Nazere and peniche there is water parks, and great beaches.
The town of Obidos is close by, Along its pretty streets are city gates, Baroque fountains, the pelourinho baroque or baroquely redone churches, a 16th century aqueduct, and little squares, or house walls adorned with window boxes and flower pots overflowing with blossom.
The community church of Santa Maria is coated with 17th century tiles, around the alter hang several paintings by the Baroque artist Josefa de Ayala of Seville.
Another nearby city is Caldas da rainha. Queen Leonor founded the thermal spa here.
Caldas pedestrian zone is an agreeable place for shopping. The colourful market on Praca de Republica has not surrendered any of its rustic character.
Nearby Foz do Arehlo promises some enjoyable hours of swimming and sunbathing. Peniche is also worth a visit this small town sprawling on a sandy isthmus was built up into Portugal’s most powerful coastal fortress. Along the harbour is a gigantic bulwark, the Baluarte de Redundo that served until 1974 as a maximum-security prison during the rule of salazar. Peniche has lots of excellent fish restaurants.
