Friendly Bed & Breakfast
We have owned the property in Spain since 1989. Our latest venture Madrugada, was purchased in 2003 and renovations began shortly afterwards.
With local builders and architects we brought the property up to the standard that we would expect ourselves from a good quality bed and breakfast establishment.
Wayne is a retired Police Officer and Joan worked as a teaching assistant in schools for many years. Both people centred careers with skills, which we now use to run a small, friendly, personal and comfortable bed & breakfast.
Now living in Spain after six years of gradual transition and integration we are happy to offer the benefit of our experience to visitors taking a holiday or thinking of making a similar move themselves.
This house is over 100 years old and has been lovingly restored in a traditional Spanish style. Its exceptionally thick walls keep the interior cool during the hot summer months.
A roof terrace with beautiful views of surrounding hills, gardens and sunbathing area over looks the swimming pool. The BBQ is also available for use and if you are lucky you may be invited to sample a traditional paella cooked by your hosts.
We have a Florida style enclosed dining terrace and sunbathing area which also fences off the pool area from young children.
Our 11 metre X 4 metre swimming pool uses modern technology to provide crystal clear water without the use of chlorine tablets. no more green hair or chlorine smelling swimming costumes.
Spacious comfortable surroundings. 1 king size room en suite is air con. 2 further rooms, one with air con the other with a ceiling fan, have an adjoining landing area, near to own shower/toilet ideally suited to a family of 4. We are only 10 miles from the coast and the beaches of Carolinas and San Juan with their fine golden sandy beaches and free parking.
Mojacar is only 40 minutes drive away. Other local activities include, walking, horse riding and clay pidgeon shooting. There are a number of castles in the area that are also worth a visit. Within the province of Almeria there are numerous markets and car boot sales to buy your presents, holiday Knik Knaks and essentials.
The markets are great places to purchase your fresh fruit and vegetables. The port of Garrucha is the nearest fishing port where boat trips are available and sea food restaurants are in abundance. There are some play areas for children. A BBQ and fridge are available for your use.
