You can go back in time by visiting the Newgrange Prehistoric Burial site, Knowth, Dowth, The High Crosses of Monasterboice, Tara, Slane and the Boyne Valley. Close to some good beaches, golf courses and a racecourse. Lougher Farm is also within 30 minutes of Dublin Airport.

Location
From Dublin, take the N1 for Belfast or the Motorway (M1) which is much faster (25 minutes). Take the EXIT marked DONORE or BRU NA BOINNE CENTRE. In Donore, turn right in the centre of the village (opposite the church) and follow the signs for Bru Na Boinne. After you pass the Bru Na Boinne Centre on your right, take the second left turn and follow the road for about 1 km until you come to Lougher Farm Guesthouse on your left.

From Belfast, take the MOTORWAY for Dublin and take the EXIT marked DONORE or BRU NA BOINNE and follow the instructions above. From the N2, take the TURN marked BRU NA BOINNE or NEWGRANGE for 3 km and take the SECOND RIGHT and follow the road for about 1 km until you come to Lougher Farm Guesthouse on your left.

Newgrange
The Megalithic Passage Tomb at Newgrange was built about 3200 BC. It is estimated that the construction of the Passage Cairn at Newgrange would have taken a work force of 300 at least 20 years. The passage and chamber of Newgrange are illuminated by the Winter Solstice sun. A shaft of sunlight shines through the roof box over the entrance and penetrates the passage to light up the chamber. This dramatic event lasts for 17 minutes at dawn from the 19th to the 23rd of December. Visitors to the chamber on regular tours experience a simulated Solstice using electric light.
