The Green House on the Hill

Ruth and Jeremy are originally from Somerset, England, but have lived in New Zealand for 15 years, most of that time in this area. Our interests include walking, gardening, travelling, genealogy and the internet….Free wireless internet access for our guests!!
The Green House offers a separate guest floor with 2-3 rooms...
1 en-suite, and 1 queen bedded room with a small lounge which can accommodate extra people if family/friends travelling together (just email requirements and I'll do my best) with private bathroom facilities . The house is multi levelled and unfortunately not suitable for wheelchairs.
We can usually offer a 2 course dinner (vegetarian) at a cost of $NZ30 pp, please ask when booking. We have numerous restaurants and cafes very close by however!
We are happy to provide transport to and from the airport or buses. Our home is set amongst mature trees with plenty of native birds to be heard and even the odd Possum sighting!

Within 30 mins drive we have almost 60 Vineyards, many of which offer tastings and some have restaurants. Wine tours can we arranged, but booking in advance is recommended. There is an on-shore Gannet Colony which can be visited from October to April, the most popular way is by tractor and trailer along the 6 Km of beach. It can be walked but is tide dependent.
Our Art Deco City is a gem! Rebuilt in only 2 yrs after the 1931 earthquake in the Art Deco style, it is unique and Art Deco w/e in mid February is an amazing time to visit and dress up, but is booked up very early.
