Relax in a private guest lounge and library complete crackling fire and many invaluable travel books and other resources. Soak up some sun on the terrace surrounded by old fashioned roses and enjoy a bottle of wine & a cheese platter. Or pack a picnic to take to the river or olive grove.

Dinners are available with the produce organically grown in the potager garden or fresh from the weekly Farmers Market, of which we offer escorted tours every Saturday. 15 minutes drive from Whangarei City or 60 minutes from the Bay of Islands, we are just off the very popular Twin Coast Discovery route that takes in the world renown Matakohe Kauri Museum and the magnificent Waipoua Kauri Forest, Hokianga harbour and sand dunes. Several quality golf courses are nearby, with our clubs available to borrow.

Several styles of accommodation are available.

Riverview Room - The guest wing has its own private bathroom with quality porcelain fittings, power shower and endless hot water. Fluffy towels are warming on heated rails and quality toiletries are yours to enjoy. Cosy bathrobes are provided for your comfort. Your bedroom with queen size bed is utterly charming, and enjoys warm afternoon sun and rural views. Plenty of room to relax and unwind in private! Crisp cotton sheets, beautiful bed linen, and fresh flowers will soothe the soul whilst home baked treats await you. Internet is available if you wish to check your email. Choose a CD from the collection provided and simply kick back.

The Cabbage Tree Room - our self-catering apartment. Ideally suited to either one or two persons. Quite separate to the house with own entrance and parking. Tariff includes simple continental breakfast provisions for your first few days. Great for long stays and very affordable. Country pub close by does dinners every evening.

Meals at Riverdale are something special! Enjoy a generous breakfast at the sunny kitchen table of free-range eggs, freshly baked bread and homemade preserves. Fresh seasonal fruit, juices, espresso and a range of teas are all on the menu. Treat yourselves to an evening of romance - dine privately in your choice of the formal dining room or by candle and fire light in the winter lounge. Let us sprinkle magic over your evening with a prettily set table, soft lighting and music. Dinners are by arrangement (preferably two days notice required), consisting of two courses, main and dessert, accompanied by a glass or two of wine.
