Awatea Lodge B & B
Come and enjoy the peace and tranquility of Awatea Lodge Bed and Breakfast - Waikanae, New Zealand.
Our traditional Bed and Breakfast is set on eight and a half acres of picturesque Waikanae pasture.
Soak in our spa, play with the alpacas or walk in our organic gardens.
Waikanae has many attractions - why not stay 2 or 3 nights and take a day trip to beautiful Kapiti Island - a sanctuary for native birds, play a round or two of golf, take a walk on the beach or through our lovely native bush.
Visit Ngau Manu bird Sanctuary where you can see several native birds including our famous kiwi, or look out for many different birds at the Waikanae estuary.
If you are here on a Saturday we have several local markets where you will find an amazing array of local crafts and produce.
For art lovers there are a number of local art studios to visit - of course don't forget to check out our own studio here at Awatea. See a wide variety of Brent's pottery and Joan's felted creations.
With prior notice Joan is happy to provide a full 3-course dinner. Alternatively you might like to try one of our local cafes.
We love to show people around our small working farm and introduce them to our friendly animals: llamas, alpacas, cows, sheep and hens. If you are keen could be persuaded to take you on a short llama walk at the back of our property!
Awatea has a lovely natural setting and extensive gardens. At present we are working on a new venture: a therapeutic garden where people can come and learn organic practises or just take time to sit and relax amongst the vegetables, herbs and scented flowers.
Awatea Lodge Bed and Breakfast Waikanae is the perfect place to unwind and rediscover your own dreams.
