Saughtree Old Manse special bed & breakfast
Saughtree Old Manse is a 19th century former manse which has been refurbished by ourselves, Paul and Doreen, to provide a peaceful, spacious and comfortable home to which we welcome bed and breakfast guests.
The small hamlet of Saughtree lies in beautiful Liddesdale in the Scottish Borders, 7 miles north of Kielder Water and the observatory; and 8 miles north-east of the pleasant village of Newcastleton.
Picturesque border towns of Hawick, Jedburgh, Kelso and Melrose are within easy reach, as is the Northumberland National park and Hadrianís Wall.
Carlisle and Hexham are both a pleasant one hour drive away, Newcastle and Edinburgh are around 90 minutes.
Liddesdale is ideal countryside for walking, cycling, motorcycling, motoring and getting away from it all.
Our large, well furnished principal guest room, with views across the valley has a double bed and also a sofa/day-bed which can be made up as a comfortable full-sized single.
We provide feather and down pillows and duvets, please let us know if you have any allergies and we would be happy to offer alternatives. The double bed has an electric under blanket.
The principal guest bedroom has two comfortable armchairs, tea and coffee making facilities, a 26' television with free-view, radio alarm clock, hair drier, pedestal fan and a selection of books and games.
There is exclusive use of the adjacent private bathroom which is beautifully equipped with Grohe shower, large cast iron bath and chrome towel rail/radiator.
For larger parties (willing to share the bathroom) a further similarly appointed double bedroom, with optional additional single bed, is available on request.
We only have one party of guests at any one time; this allows us to provide a very personal service.
A generous breakfast is served in the dining room at a time to suit our guests. We provide a cold buffet with cereals, yoghurts and fresh fruit salad prepared each morning. Your choice of hot dishes, using locally sourced ingredients, is cooked to order. Our coffee is made with freshly ground beans, tea is Yorkshire Gold.
