Stranraer is an ideal centre for exploring bonnie Galloway with so much to see and do in the area, you won't be disappointed.

You can play golf on our four local courses, all of which offer both dramatic and challenging fairways, culminating in well kept greens.

Fish in our many rivers and lochs or you can fish from the beach or many rock marks around the coast, which offer an abundance of different species of fish from a halibut to the humble flounder.

If you like walking there is the Southern Upland Way, which starts at Portpatrick or visit the Galloway Hills, which has a range of hills and walks to suit everyone.

We also have beautiful gardens including the Logan Botanic Gardens and Glenwhan both offer many foreign and exotic plants owing to the mild climate of which the area benefits from the golf stream.

The South West of Scotland offers the bird enthusiast the opportunity to observe a diversity of both resident and summer or winter migrants in a wide variety of habitats.
Particular mention should be made to the Birds of Prey and the many different sea birds that benefit from nearby reserves.

Many examples of Galloway's past are preserved for us to investigate with Stone Circles, Forts Settlements and Early Abbeys, such as Sweet Heart Abbey near Dumfries or nearer to home Glenluce Abbey.
