The Merchants House
The Merchants House is a small, family-run and family-friendly guesthouse. It has been owned and run by the current owners since 1996.
On the first floor we have three guest bedrooms, two of which are en-suite (and include toilet, wash-hand basin and powerful shower cubicles). These two rooms have views over Loch Ryan from which you can watch the ferries travelling up and down the Loch to the P&O ferry terminal.
All rooms have hairdryers, TV/radio, tea and coffee-making facilities with generously stocked courtesy trays with tea, coffee, hot chocolate etc. All rooms are double-glazed and have central heating. The third bedroom is a double at the rear of property, hence very quiet and has a shared bathroom with bath/shower.
We also have a licensed twenty-cover restaurant offering our guests a wide variety of home-cooked quality foods, prepared with local produce whenever possible. Blackboard itemises the daily specials.
A small, cosy bar is also situated on the ground floor, with a real log fire roaring in the fireplace in winter. We stock a large variety of wines, spirits and soft drinks. Snacks are also available in the bar for guests who do not want a full evening meal.
Breakfasts are served from 6.15am (for those wishing to leave early for the 7.30am ferries to Northern Ireland) and are served until 9.15am.
We offer a range of cereals, fruit juice, tea and coffee, toast with home-made jams, and your selection of cooked breakfast items (eg. bacon, sausage, poached, fried or scrambled eggs, hash brown, black pudding, haggis, mushrooms, tomatoes).
