Walking, you can go till your legs drop off. Galloway Forest, the UK's largest forest park, and the many other natural areas here, packed with hills, coastline and forest, are a walkers paradise.
Wild fowlers come here to shoot the birds. Birdwatchers come to the largest Local Nature Reserve here on Wigtown Bay to shoot the birds too, only with cameras!
Then there's the fishing! We're surrounded by coast for the sea fishermen. and then we're sandwiched between Salmon and Trout rivers to the north and south of us for the course fishermen. Loch fishing is all over the place here too.
Oh and of course we are in the National Book Town of Scotland and boast many bookshops and related services.
