You will find a warm welcome at our unique mountain retreat in the Assynt mountains, 35 miles north of Ullapool. Newton Lodge bed and breakfast is situated in one of the most remote and beautiful parts of the country. Its location, midway along the popular North West Highland Coastal Route, makes it an ideal base to explore this undiscovered area of the Scottish Highlands.

We offer traditional accommodation and the friendly, yet unobtrusive service, that you would expect from a high quality Highland guest house .

Our seven bedrooms enjoy loch or mountain views and are en-suite with either shower or bath, fluffy towels and complimentary toiletries. The rooms are comfortably furnished in a traditional style with crisp white linen, colour TV, hairdryer and complimentary beverage tray with a selection of teas and coffee.

There is a spacious guest lounge with a selection of board games, books and magazines. Guests may come here at all times of the day to enjoy a quiet retreat and stunning panoramic views. Drinks, including a selection of fine malt whiskies, are served here and a relaxed and peaceful ambiance is created by open fires and fresh flowers .

Newton Lodge’s stunning surroundings can be enjoyed in comfort from our panoramic conservatory which overlooks Loch Glencoul with the interesting geological feature of the Glencoul Fault clearly visible. There is a telescope for watching seals which breed on the offshore islands. June is a great time to visit when the new seal pups are born.

Breakfast is served in the traditional styled dining room and home-made and local produce are used wherever possible. Choose from a selection of fruits & juices, porridge, cereals and muesli, followed by a choice of a traditional freshly cooked Scottish breakfast, eggs (fried, poached or scrambled), a variety of omelettes, local kippers or smoked salmon. Try our speciality dishes of porridge with heather honey, malt whisky and double cream followed by fluffy scrambled eggs with smoked salmon.

Packed lunches are available if requested in advance. We do not offer evening meals. However, we can organise light refreshments for cyclists, walkers and other guests who prefer not to eat out at the excellent local restaurants.

Ample Off-road parking is available for motor bikes and cars and there is undercover space for bicycles.
