Bed & Breakfast.
The Island Of Unst is the most northerly island in the United Kingdom. We have a large nature reserve for bird watchers and many archaeological sites. Pictish and Norse (Viking)
We are 55 miles north of Lerwick.
My wife will give spinning lessons if required.
If you have accessed our web site you will notice that we have built an eco house on a remote island within the UK. We have many Universities working with us on phase 2 and phase 3 of the project.
The project was created to demonstrate energy efficiency and the growing of food crops on a remote island with severe weather conditions in the winter months.
If you are driving to Unst from Sumbrugh airport, which is in the south of the main island of Shetland, the journey time will be approx 3 hours. There are two inter island ferry crossings. The first takes approx 30 minutes; the second takes approx 10 minutes.
Lerwick can also be reached by Ferry from Aberdeen. This is an overnight crossing which takes 12 hours. Cabins can be booked for the ferry crossing. The ferry operator is Northlink Ferries.
Car hire is available on Shetland from Star Rentals or Boults car hire.
There is a daily bus service to Unst from Lerwick. The morning bus leaves at 8am. This journey takes approx 2 hours including the two inter island ferries.
For people who wish to travel to Lerwick from Unst; there is a morning bus which leaves the bus stop near the house at 8.05am.
The return bus from Lerwick leaves at 2.30pm and arrives at the house at 4.45 pm.
Unst has many items of interest; we have a heritage centre, a boat haven museum; many archaeological sites, which have been excavated.
There is a hotel at Baltasound, which provided evening meals; and they have a pub bar. At Haroldswick there is a Bistro; and we have another restaurant at the former RAF Saxa Vord.
