The Haven
The Haven is in a listed Georgian terrace right on the seafront in Ayr. Our lounge and one of the bedrooms have really lovely outlooks and we think there are few things finer than watching the glorious sunsets over Arran from our window. We have one double room and can make up the other as a double or a twin.
We place a real emphasis on our breakfasts. We are committed to being as organic as possible. Like many others we are trying to reduce our carbon footprint and so we are also concerned to be as environmentally sensitive as possible so we try to use local produce where we can. We do provide some of the very best Scottish produce.
Our location makes us most convenient for the Esplanade and the Port of Ayr from where the paddle steamer 'Waverley' sails each summer. Some enjoy fishing from the jetty while others prefer a stroll along to the 'banks and braes o' bonnie Doon'.
For those keen on wildlife, Ayr is an excellent base. There is a wide variety of seabirds and it is possible to visit the bird sanctuary at Ailsa Craig. There is an increasing fascination with sea mammals and trips are available to see seals, often porpoises, sometimes dolphins and, increasingly sightings of whales.
Ayr is a wonderful holiday centre with lots to do. We have the beautiful Adam architecture of Culzean Castle just down the coast. Scotland is the home of golf and there are three famous courses close by - Troon, Turnberry and Prestwick. Ayr is also the home of Scotland's premier racecourse, home of the Scottish Grand National and the Ayr Gold Cup. The Ayr flower show can claim to be the major garden event in Scotland. Last but not least Ayr is the heart of Burns country with many places to visit associated with Scotland's greatest poet.
