Wireless Cottage Bed & Breakfast
Wireless Cottage was built in 1908 to house the telephone exchange and its workers. Today it is our lovely home and an ideal location to explore this beautiful area with its long white sands and coasts either by car, bike or by bus. Cal Mac Ferries berth from Oban in Lochboisdale only a few hundred yards away.
The one storey cottage has gas central heating. You are welcome to use the large sitting room situated to the front of the cottage. Breakfast is served in the sitting room from 07.00 to 09.00.
We have two rooms available for bed and breakfast. Bedroom one is a family room sleeping three, positioned next to the large bathroom.
Bedroom two is a large room, which can be used as a double bed or two single beds; the bathroom is shared with room one at present and comprises a shower, bath and wash hand basin.
The are several local attractions close at hand. The Politician on the island of Eriskay (just a short car trip away) is based at the site where a cargo ship carrying bottles of whisky ran aground during the Second World War. Thousands of bottles of whisky were 'salvaged' by the locals before authorities arrived, one of which is on display at the Politician. The island of Eriskay is also home to the Eriskay Pony, a breed that until recent years was dwindling.
Evening meals can be found close by at the Lochboisdale hotel.
This is an ideal location whether you are just sight seeing, bird watching (we have many rare breeds including corncrakes and golden eagles), hill walking or just wanting to 'get away from it all'.
There are ferries to Oban, Barra, Skye, Harris and Lewis only a short drive away.
