Angels' Keep
Built in the 1930's, the Hillcrest Assembly of God was a simple country church, funded largely by the proceeds of bake sales plus member contributions. The congregation soon exceeded the capacities of the cozy little building, and in the mid-1940's the original sanctuary was elevated so the men of the church could dig a basement. The newly added foundation doubled the size of the building and provided space for Sunday School and social gatherings. The church congregation moved to an even larger structure in the mid-1970's, and still exists today, just a few miles from it's original home.
Although it has housed a richly varied parade of enterprises, as a private residence, a day care center, a guest house, offices, and an apartment duplex, the historic old property retained much of the original character, including the tongue-and-groove vaulted ceiling, original hammered glass windows and the stately steeple.
Today, it functions as a bed and breakfast with a trio of warm, inviting guest rooms, as well as the treasured home of your hosts, Robert and Barbara Kelley, who purchased the property in 2001.
Enter through the steeple into the sanctuary where you will be bathed in rich golden sunlight wafting through the triptych of our old cathedral windows. Relax and experience the aroma of homemade cookies, freshly baked just for you every single day!
We invite you to choose from a trio of well-appointed themed guest rooms:
The Cecile Brunner Suite
If you are looking for comfort, luxury and romantic elegance, this room is the perfect choice! The Cecile B. features one-of-a-kind hand painted furniture complemented by a generous helping of antiques. Snuggle deeply into the queen-sized bed and enjoy the romance of roses. The in-suite private bath includes a jetted tub. There is a private backdoor exit to a deck for two, which is the perfect setting for romantic stargazing or enjoying morning coffee.
Miss Rachel’s Garden
Miss Rachel's Garden, our newest room, is a peaceful retreat with a cottage garden theme. A perfect hideaway for couples, it is also spacious enough for a family traveling with one small child (too young for a separate room). You'll feel pampered indeed, tucked into the queen-sized bed under a filmy drape as you watch a movie. If you'd rather, you can snuggle into the wing back chair and read a book to unwind. The bookshelf in the private 'library' is sure to give you a chuckle! This is the only room with stair access.
Griff's Outhouse
This room is paired with a unique private bathroom. The 'outhouse' features an antique wainscoting mirror which hangs above the rustic natural slate vanity top. An old hardware cabinet contains amenities and surprises in its many cubbyholes. Best of all, our bears are friendly!
Across the hall from the 'outhouse,' the comfortable bedroom boasts a queen-sized log bed and a hand painted antique oak chest-of-drawers. This room, meticulously decorated in the unique Cody Lodge style, is where the deer and the antelope play, along with moose, fish, and other critters. Kelley family memorabilia completes our indoor tribute to the great outdoors.
Come and share our sentimental journey!
Enjoy your room and your stay...
