Coasting Pilot Hotel
The coasting pilot is reputedly the oldest pub in burry port, earliest records dates around 1800. Pembrey parish records confirm that it was in existence in 1824. It had a thatched roof until 1878 when it was also enlarged.
It was once the headquarters of the harbour pilot with lots of history and stories of bygone days. The same family has run the coasting for the past 35 years with strong Irish connections. It has gone through many changes over the decades. There are at present 10 letting bedrooms ensuite, finished to a very high standard, all with sky t.v. including sky sports & at the races channels. The downstairs has a large sports memorabilia bar with pool table, darts, large screen TV’s, and state of the ark jukebox.
Our spacious lounge boasts regular live entertainment in a comfortable and relaxed atmosphere. Plans are on going to convert part of the extensive beer garden to a conservatory restaurant. The menu is varied to cater for quick snacks to full lunch and evening meal. Food served daily from 12.00p.m. to 2.30pm and from 7.00p.m. to 9.00pm. Extensive choice of world wines available from our wine menu, full choice of beers and cask ales to suit many tastes.
There are plenty of things to do in Burry Port and well worth a visit to the area. We are very close to Pembrey motor sports centre, the 18-hole Ashburnham links championship golf course, and the new Jack Nicholas 18 hole championship course at Machynys.
Beautiful country walks along the millennium coastal path, fabulous cycling along the coastal bay, Plenty to do in the nearby Pembrey Country park. Fishing is a feature in Carmarthen bay, and the new marina is a must to explore.
