Steeple Bumpstead borders three counties-Essex, Suffolk and Cambridgeshire.
In the centre of the village, Wheelwrights is a recently renovated former traditional village inn with three letting bedrooms, two of which are ensuite.
Full English breakfast, or a lighter option are served in the dining room, overlooking our lovely garden. Local produce is used as much as possible.
Within a few minutes walk are the two village pubs, both serving good food and a general store/P.O./petrol station.
We are ideally situated for visiting many interesting towns and attractions in East Anglia.
Within 30 mins drive are the famous university town of Cambridge-do not miss a punting trip on the river!, Newmarket-for a day at the races or visit the National Horse Racing Museum and go on a guided tour of one of the studs, Stansted Airport-very reasonably priced collection or delivery are available at any time of day or night!, Duxford Imperial War Museum, with its wonderful collections of historic aircraft and its flying days, the picture postcard village of Finchingfield and the ancient and fascinating wool towns of South Suffolk, with their lathe and plaster built leaning cottages, many of which are over 600 yers old. John Constable's homeland, where many of his famous scenes were painted is a little further away. London is about one hour's drive.
