You are most welcome to my new B&B situated on hill 40 regarding the trench maps. B&B Amaryllis has 2 very large bedrooms with sitting area and en-suite bathroom.
You'll enjoy free WIFI, cable flat-screen TV with several English spoken channels too and coffee/tea making facilities in your room.
Guests enjoy breakfast in a separate dining room. Breakfast consists of orange juice, cereals, croissants, rolls and toasts, home made jams, honey, cheese, cold meats, coffee or tea and yoghurt.
You can shop in Zonnebeke and there are a two restaurants in the village. Tyne Cot cemetery, the largest Common Wealth Cemetery in the world, is only a mile or so away. Even closer is the Passchendaele Memorial Museum 1917 with its dug-out experience. Soon you will be able to visit there several types of trenches too. Ypres is only 5 miles from here. Every evening at 20.00 hours you can watch the Last Post ceremony which is quite emotional. Also the renewed In Flanders Fields Museum is a must to visit.
You are welcome to use my maps and I'm always happy to help you in organizing your visit. Except for the first World War history from here you can easily visit Bruges, Lille, Ghent and several charming smaller towns in West Flanders as Diksmuide, Veurne, Lo, Kortrijk and Roeselare.
You probably know we have the best chocolate and beers in the world! For the latter you need to go to the St-Sixtus abbey in West-Vleteren to taste the beer that got most often that title. I welcome guests from over the world and speak quite fluently English, French and Dutch.
