La Porte B&B Holidays in Normandy
In the heart of the Normandy countryside where you will receive a warm welcome. If you are in France just for a relaxing break, touring or looking for property, La Porte is close to the market town of Saint Sever Calvados where there are all the amenities you need. A supermarket, bank, bakers, bar and tourist information.
We are approximately 1 hour from the D Day beaches and La Mont St Michel. Close by there is an eighteen hole golf course. Pets are welcome at La Porte. We can also offer an evening meal if required and afternoon tea too. We also have a small self contained gite available and a small camp site with electric hook ups.
While most people want a quiet break there is plenty of entertainment and activities available for all age groups. We are close to Villedieu-Les-Poeles famous for it's copper and bell foundry.
We are also in the heart of many cycle routes around the area. Vire is a large market town 10 minutes drive from us where there is a large market on Fridays, which is a lovely way to spend a morning walking around all the stalls, from fresh vegetable, an amazing choice of fresh bread to clothes and gifts.
There are many restaurants to chose from and if you feel energetic a ten pin bowling alley too.
The coast close to us is beautiful, many miles of sandy beaches and at Granville you can take a boat to Jersey or the very pretty island of Chausey. In Granville you will find many sea food restaurants where the fish is freshly brought in that day. Bayeau is an hour away, a lovely place to spend the day. A wonderful cathedral and old buildings to admire.
The best way to view the historic town is in a horse drawn carriage. In the town, of course is the famous Bayeau Tapestry, well worth a visit.
We are approximately 1 hour from Caen and 2 hours from Cherbourg.
