Casa Álamos B&B

In the olden days the Ribagorza was an independent county in the Kingdom of Aragon. Nowadays it is a county with its own strong identity; rich in history and culture and landscapes of extreme contrasts. To the North, the high peaks of the Pyrenees, to the south endless forests, green sloping plains and fields of almonds and vines, where water always takes on an important role. The flora and fauna are overwhelming.

The river Isábena cuts through the hearth of the region from North to South. Wild waters and rugged steep canyons opening to a wide green valley. An imposing landscape and a sense of calm accompany it on its way. Endless walks, hidden beauty spots and numerous places of interest add to the magic. A handful of small and remote villages dot the landscape.

Visalibons (1100m.) is one of those old and authentic mountain villages. The village has a spectacular view down the Isábena valley and the sun seems to turn with the village all day long. Huge and complex farmhouses occupy its centre, and are built in natural stone and slate with typical rustic details.

Casa Álamos is a farmhouse over 400 years old and is situated in the authentic Aragonese mountain village of Visalibons. For centuries it has been the home of many generations of farmers and agricultural workers, part of it has also been a shelter for cattle. Located next to the Romanesque church the house is built in a rough sand coloured natural stone and hard oak beams. From the outside the house looks grand, rustic and simple; also strong and brave. But on the inside it will make a good residence. During the rehabilitation of the building we tried to save as many original and architectural details as we could whilst making a huge effort towards creating modern level of comfort. We restored the house with natural and ecologically friendly materials to create a healthy ambience for it's inhabitants.

If you enter the house for the first time through it's huge oak door, immediately to the right you encounter a small cosy dining room were breakfast and meals are served.
The rest of the ground floor are our private quarters.

On the upper floor, under the well restored roof of oak beams one encounters the guest rooms 'Verano' (Summer) and 'Primavera' (Spring). The rooms 'Invierno' (Winter) and 'Otońo' (Autumn) are situated on the middle floor where one will also find the common living room. This spacious living is furnished with various sofa's and easy chairs, a reading-table, the chimney, the honesty bar and a coffee & tea corner. From the living room the garden is easily accessible, an area of sunny and shaded terraces where we will also serve your breakfast.

Nature in all its glory plays a leading role in Visalibons and that is why we named our rooms after the four seasons. Each room has it's own season-related colour scheme and furnishings.

The box spring mattresses are spacious and can be used as a double bed or two singles. All rooms have their own fully equipped bathroom with shower, toilet and wash-basin.
The rooms can be equipped with heating.

The Ribagorza is a walkers paradise of ancient pathways, smugglers routes and strenuous hikes. The stunning natural parcs Posets Maladeta and Aiguestortes y Estany St. Maurici are perfectly accessible. GR1, GR11, GR15, GR18 and GR18.1 cross the region and connecting with loads of smaller walking routes, the PR's.
Roaring rivers offer white water opportunities such as hydro speeding, rafting and kayaking, whilst remote and rugged canyons are just waiting to be explored.

Horse riding, parapenting, mountain biking ... everything is possible! Winter offers surprisingly good snowboarding, skiing and cross-country conditions.

In our Casa Rural we offer you a wide range of maps and guides and we can assist you in planning your trips and adventures. If you wish, we can advise you about outdoor activities and excursions. We are in contact with most outdoor companies and are ready to book the most active days of your life!
