French Country Home In Central PA
Our B&B is part of the Sharing Economy - in our case, we have a house that we wish to share with you and we will welcome you as a guest into our home. If you are looking for an alternative to traditional accommodations, check us out.
We offer our space through an international booking agency, Airbnb. You may have read about them as they are the newest concept in the hospitality industry.
Much like a traditional B&B we offer 2 guest rooms each with private bath, Queen Sized bed, Cable TV, WiFi plus a continental breakfast. However, we offer this for a significantly reduced price from many other traditional choices. We are able to do this by keeping our costs low - we do not have a fancy website - our only website is through the Airbnb platform; we have no sign in the front of our home; we offer a continental breakfast rather than a hot breakfast and we do not generally use paid advertising on other online platforms or local print media - and our guests from all over the world manage to find us!
Our typical guest is looking for an opportunity to stay in a private home with its warmth and character. Some guests stay for just an overnight and some for longer periods. Some are on business and some pleasure. But all are looking for something different.
We designed and built our home in 2007 as an “Americanized” version of a French Country Manor. We are located in a beautiful, quiet country setting in South Central Pennsylvania (Harrisburg/Hershey/Mechanicsburg/Carlisle/York/ Lancaster/and Gettysburg areas). Our gardens are always evolving. Stay with us and enjoy the peaceful ambiance, watch for the deer and wild turkey and listen to the song birds from the patio in the back of the house or the Bistro Table in the front of the house. Enjoy a Continental Breakfast served according to your schedule.
We have 2 guest rooms. Each room is $60.00 per night including all fees, taxes and a continental breakfast.
1. Stay in The Butterfly Garden Bedroom. You will have your own private entrance on the first floor with a small porch with a 2 seat bench for enjoying the night air or breakfast in the morning. The room includes a Queen Sized bed, flat screen TV and private bath with ceiling paddle fan. Limit of 2 people - no space for additional guest.
2. The Library Loft Suite - Guest Room with cozy window seat and vaulted ceilings, located on the second floor (this is the only room on the second floor). This room includes a Sitting Area with TV, Private bath, Queen Sized Bed, ceiling paddle fan and a library loft which overlooks the library. Limited to 2 guests - no room for extra people. This room is especially well suited for doing a personal retreat away from the busy world.
Guests will have access to the Great Room/Eating area for breakfast. In good weather they will have access to the screened in porch and of course all outside areas on the property. When the Library door is open, guests may borrow any book to use during their stay - when the door is closed the Library is a private space. There is a pocket door which separates the main living space from the 2 guest rooms and the Library. When the door is open you are invited to come in, relax and visit and in cold weather enjoy the fireplace. When closed, this door affords both guests and hosts a maximum amount of privacy. Usually the door will remain open, but will be closed by 10:00 PM and reopen at 7:00 AM
We encourage interaction while respecting each other’s privacy.
We love the quiet country setting. We have wonderful, friendly neighbors but our houses are separated by lots of space. We enjoy the wildlife, except when the deer eat our plants!
Several days before your arrival, we will email you a list of suggested area restaurants. This is especially helpful if you are arriving close to dinner and you want to have some idea of what is available before your arrival.
