Slate Mill Lodge

Details: History
In the fourteenth century six brothers came from Sweden to Great Britain and settled in Wales. They were millers and apparently found what they were looking for in Pembrokeshire with its many streams and fertile land.
Bountiful crops of wheat, barley and oats were grown, which meant plenty of work for the mills. Each of the brothers built for himself a water mill for grinding grain, and one of these was our very own Slate Mill (From The Midas Touch, Codd, 1980).

And Now...
Now after almost 2 years of restoration Slate Mill is a completely modernized, energy efficient building. The building has solar-powered assisted water-heating and rainwater is collected for use in the toilets and laundry.

At Slate Mill Lodge we can cater up to 14 guests in 7 warm, comfortable, en-suite rooms. Guests have a choice of Bed & Breakfast or self catering accommodation. The Lodge is open ALL YEAR, priced from £35pppn.

The lodge itself is set in 20acres of our own land, so those seeking some fresh air can walk amongst the rolling hills and streams enjoying views of the Pembrokeshire National Park and local wildlife.

Pembrokeshire Coast National Park
The Slate Mill Lodge is situated within the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park.
This is Britain's only truly coastal National Park and boasts some of the most spectacular scenery and diverse wildlife in Britain. It's a spectacular landscape of rugged cliffs, sandy beaches, wooded estuaries and wild inland hills, and a place of sanctuary for wildlife.

The landscape has been shaped over the centuries by people, leaving their mark in tombs and castles, crosses and cottages, quarries and quays.
It was established as a National Park in 1952, and is the only one in the United Kingdom to have been designated primarily because of its spectacular coastline.

Beaches:
Pembrokeshire's coastline boasts some of the most magnificent scenery in Britain, if not Europe. Some of Pembrokeshire’s beaches are classed as being among the best beaches in Britain. With over 50 beaches breaking up the rugged, rocky landscape, there’s something for everyone - from bustling beaches in the seaside resorts to quiet sandy coves that can only be reached by foot.

Dale beach is located on the Milford Haven estuary between St Ann's Head and St Ishmael's in Pembrokeshire, South Wales. The beach is popular for fishing, swimming, windsurfing and water-skiing. The waters in the bay are clean and gently shelving. Facilities include toilets, parking, shops, a cafe, restaurant and a slipway to launch small boats.
Marloes. One of the BEST in Britain! A beautiful, isolated stretch of sand with rocky outcrops along its length. It is rarely busy and out of season if you make the effort to walk to the beach you are likely to have it to yourself. Swimming and surfing here can be excellent. Facilities include a car park and toilets.
Little Haven is a small easily-accessible sandy beach connected to the larger broad haven beach at low tide. Facilities at Little Haven include; shops, cafes, restaurant, pubs and car park.
Druidstone Haven. A well hidden sandy beach found by following the small paths from the coastal road between Nolton Haven and Broad Haven. A very beautiful spot with plenty of sand, rock-pools and even a waterfall!
