Le Relais de Chasse, chambres & table d'hôtes
The Romans knew it long before we did. Life is good in what we now call the Nievre (s/w Burgundy).
Built in the 16th century as a hunting lodge for the Princes de Cleves and extended in the 18th century, the Relais was dragged into the 20th century by the local pharmacist some forty years ago. With a good eye for the original details she added modern comfort to the building.
The Relais consists of a manor of approx. 420 m2, an out building of 150m2, servants quarters and a large garden/park (10.000 m2).
The Relais de Chasse is situated in between the historic cities of Nevers en Moulins and can be easily reached via the N7 motorway. Nevers is the capital of the Nievre (Burgundy), Moulins of the Alliers (Auvergne). Both cities offer a wide variety of shops, restaurants, bars and historic sites and are within a 30 minute reach.
Once this area was part of the duchy Burgundy. Hence the great variety of convents, cathedrals, abbeys and castles. Also this is an area of picturesque beauty and ‘pre-war’ peace and quiet.
And, lets not forget the wine and food for which this area is famous worldwide.
The Nievre is one of France least populated area’s. It is home however to extensive old forests, combined with sloping scenery, rivers and canals.
The valley of the Allier is a paradise for nature-lovers. Also, well worth a visit are its many castles and the elegant city of Vichy. Famous for its spring water and containing a beautiful 18-holes golf course dated 1908.
Approximately 20 km. from the Relais you’ll find the Formula-1 circuit of France (Magny Cours). Magny Cours has a 18-holes golf course.
All rooms have large beds, comfortable furniture, and a well equipped en suite bathroom. Colour TV, DVD-player and tea-making facility are available at each room. Roomrates from € 71,00 per night per room, breakfast included.
